Halliday Shores is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the town of Forster on the New South Wales coastline – one of (many) draw-cards of retiring in our luxury villas.
Here are five other benefits of living so close to Forster.
1. Annual events in Forster
Forster is a lively town, with plenty of events and celebrations throughout the year that draw in crowds.
The Forster Farmer’s Market is held on the third Saturday of each month, and Ladies Race Day is held once per year at the Tuncurry Racecourse. The Lakeside Festival in November offers live music, food and drinks at a family-friendly event by the lake, and the Fred Williams Aquatic Festival in July invites powerboat fans to watch super boats take to the water to show off their speed and handling.
2. One of the best towns in Australia
Forster was named one of the top five towns in Australia in 2019 by travel brand Wotif. Forster made the list largely thanks to its incredible beaches, but also because of the annual Humpback whale migration, which occurs from mid-May to late July, then again from mid-September to late November. The whales are regularly close enough to shore to be seen from land, and during their return trip in spring, these wonderful creatures often have new calves in tow.
3. Year-round enviable weather
Winter does exist in Forster, but even during the coldest months (July and August), daily averages remain in the double digits.
On the other hand, summer is not uncomfortably hot either. Sunny days are tempered by fresh sea breezes, meaning locals and visitors can enjoy balmy days exploring the town or relaxing on the beach with temperatures in the region of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.
4. The sparkling beaches
There are more than a dozen exceptional beaches in and around Forster, every single one of them as enticing as the last.
Forster Beach itself is always a favourite, as well as Pebbly, Burgess, and Rockpool. All of these and more offer endless white-gold sands and clear blue waters for paddling, relaxing, and strolling in the sun.
5. Friendly locals
Even if you’re not from the Forster area, you’ll quickly feel right at home thanks to the warm and friendly locals. The laid-back atmosphere attracts a certain type of fun-loving person who wants to make the most of the sunshine and beautiful scenery, and everyone is quick to find a new friend group amongst such a local community.
Halliday Shores is only 15 minutes north of Forster, and all our residents enjoy the benefits of living near this top Australian town just the same as those living in the centre itself.
